Zithromax is a new antibiotic of macrolide group. This medication slows (or kills) the growth of sensitive bacteria by means of reduction the production of proteins which bacteria need to survive.

In high concentration Zithromax has a bactericidal action. It is also active against a number of sexually transmitted diseases (gonococcus, trichomonad, chlamydiae, spirochete). The drug is usually used to treat diseases caused by microorganisms which are sensitive to the drug, including angina, scarlet fever, otitis, pneumonia, bronchitis, erysipelas, infected dermatitis, urethritis and other infectious diseases.
Contra-indications: The drug is contraindicated with liver and kidney dysfunction.
